Occupying the same piece of real estate adjacent to the tracks for more than 50 years, East Bernard Milling has been a vital part of the East Bernard community and its history. The father and son team of Henry and Johnny Viktorin started East Bernard Milling Company to provide quality feeds and friendly service to farmers and ranchers throughout Wharton County and beyond. Construction on the original mill began in the summer of 1954 and officially opened for business on October 4, 1954. Unfortunately, in August of 1958 the corn sheller building, located behind the store, was destroyed by a fire. Not to be deterred, a new retail sales store was added in 1964.
The Whitley Family purchased East Bernard Milling and took over operations July 1, 2000. Less than one year later, on May 11, 2001, the main building and retail store were destroyed in an early-morning fire. The Whitley family rebuilt the business, offering their loyal customers a new and improved facility for purchasing their farming and ranching products. |

East Bernard Milling started feed production in February 2002 and currently offers
numerous
varieties of custom-blended feed rations, as well as lawn and garden
supplies,
and other farming and ranching necessities. |
